Welcome to one of France's most beautiful and historic regions

Le Gabachou is ideally situated to explore the diversity and beauty of the Languedoc Roussillon countryside. With a warm Mediterranean climate, the area not only boasts row upon row of vines and sunflowers, but also the first fruits of France: early ripening cherries, peaches, figs, and apricots.

The farmhouse is just 20 kms west of the famous medieval city of Carcassonne; the Mediterranean is just an hour’s drive (visit Gruissan for the day - a wonderful old fishing village with a yacht harbour and sandy beaches). Golfing at Carcassonne is also close by.

For architecture, shopping and museums, drive to energetic Toulouse - known as the 'Pink City' for its beautiful red-brick buildings. It's many elegant squares, bordered with cafes, are perfect for sitting back and watching the world go by.

This is also Cathar country – with numerous castles and abbeys to visit. On the trail of the Da Vinci Code take in the mysterious church of Rennes-le Chateau.

The property is surrounded on three sides by fields of sunflowers, wheat and corn with views to the north over vineyards to La Montagne Noire. The extensive garden leads down to the banks of the Canal Du Midi and the nearby Port du Bram (5 minutes away) hires boats and bikes by the day.

Getting here is easy and inexpensive

Access is by car is either at Exit number 22 from the A61-E80 Narbonne/Toulouse auto route or via the N113 between Carcassonne and Castelnaudary.
