The 3 acres of grounds have been laid out with various shrubberies, with one or two benches scattered around for those wanting an extra bit of peace and quiet. The front doors of all the gîtes lead to a large area under the three magnificent horse-chestnut trees that has been laid to gravel and provides a delightful sitting area, with several sets of chairs and tables, and BBQs.
It is an ideal spot to sit and read in the shade during the heat of the day and then enjoy al-fresco eating in the evening. There are lights shining up through trees, these lights coupled with the ‘up-lighters’ set in the ground in front of the house and the lovely lights along the drive create a very pleasant and subtle ambiance for enjoying the lovely, warm summer evenings.
Children are not forgotten with the swings and slide, table-tennis/football and swing-ball plus the swimming pool of course. The owner has grandchildren so there is also a selection of amusements for the smaller child for when they visit - e.g. paddling pool; sand pit; “hook a duck”, kiddies picnic table etc etc.
The swimming pool is heated, usually 26 – 28C but has been known to get to 30C! It has a tiled terrace, sun-loungers, a shaded pool house and inflatable toys etc.
We also provide beach towels – so one less item to pack!
There is direct access to the beautiful Canal du Midi, just step through the garden gate and you can walk or cycle along the tow-path. Our little canal boat is a moored just outside the gate as well, nice and convenient for any guests that want to take it out for the day. As well as the boat we have a couple of classic cars that guest can hire to experience retro open-air motoring on beautiful, largely traffic free driving roads.
